    Mieszkańcy przygranicznych Długosielc w zrujnowanej stodole znajdują ciało mężczyzny z poderżniętym gardłem. Komisarz Paweł Łukasik rozpoznaje w nim ojca Wiktorii, swej byłej dziewczyny. To duża sprawa jak na prowincjonalny posterunek, ale w końcu Łukasik to dawny as komendy głównej. A głównym podejrzanym jest jego śmiertelny wróg.

    Tymczasem Agnieszka Jamróz po ukończeniu kursu podstawowego w Akademii Szkolenia Policji otrzymuje pierwsze zadanie. Ma sprowadzić do Polski ciało komendanta placówki straży granicznej, zamordowanego w najdzikszym zakątku Bieszczadów. Sześć miesięcy wcześniej niemal w tym samym miejscu znaleziono zwłoki innego pogranicznika, tym razem z Ukrainy. Obaj zginęli w ten sam sposób.
